I remember when I took the leap and purchased my laser, the XTool P2. I spent COUNTLESS hours researching and talking with others before making my purchase and have learned so much since owning one. That said, when it first arrived, I was actually afraid to open the box. I felt completely overwhelmed. I knew its capabilities, but also expected an extensive setup process in addition to a steep learning curve. After reviewing the instructions that came with it, I turned to the internet for more detailed information and to try and learn from others who have already done this. There was a TON of really useful information, but much of it was more advanced and didn't really apply to where I was in this process (holding the box cutter in my hand). I really needed someone to (for lack of a better word) "dumb it down" for me.

Now, let me back up for a minute. I took a risk by making this significant investment. I did not have a full time job at the time and NEEDED this to be successful. There was a lot riding on this and I wanted to do it right. I didn't want to rush into anything, but I also needed to make it profitable as fast as possible.

I am hoping to give you some high level tips and tricks to help you get started. There are plenty of articles and videos out there that greatly detail how to do just about anything you can imagine with your laser. But what about things like, what type of wood should I buy? Do I focus more on quality or quantity? What glue should I use? When type of paint should I use? What type of settings should I use?
